There are different thought processes for when to turn your hot tub on and off. Some people love to turn their hot tub on over the winter months and use it less over summer, others may turn down the heat over summer and dive right in! Whatever you love to do getting the most from your hot tub is what everyone aims for.
More and more people are purchasing hot tubs, so if you find yourself to be one lucky owner, how can you maximise the rest of the summer months to really get your monies worth?
Turn Down the Heat
In the rare instances the sun beats down more than it should, turning your hot tub down to 85°F (between 85°F and 94°F is ideal) can transform your hot tub into a cool tub.
Mini Pool Transformation
If you have children, turning the heat down transforms your tub into a mini pool (however we advise you to supervise your child at all times when they are around water). When not in use, keep the lid on your hot tub, if it's really hot the sun may warm the water.
Alleviates Allergies
Fed up with your hay fever? The natural steam from your hot tub soothes your nose and helps clear a sore throat.
The Evening
If you've turned down the heat during the day, it may start to get chilly, turn up the heat ready for the evening. Pour yourself a glass of something cool and relax with your favourite book (if you don't mind getting it slightly wet)! Not only would you feel great in the hot tub, but it will also give you a great nights sleep.
Summer Showers
As long as it doesn't look as if lightning will strike, sitting in a hot tub at night when it's raining is quite refreshing. Especially if you've increased the temperature from enjoying your tub during the warm day. Rain a problem, then equip yourself with a large portable umbrella, which could also be useful during the day if the sun is beating down.
Waterproof Games
So if you (or your kids) can't sit still, go online and you will find an array of waterproof games to keep you or your kids entertained. From waterproof playing cards, dive pool sticks to inflatable shoot hoop games and mini volleyball kits.
Positive Psychological Effects
If you've never been in a hot tub and you find you are enjoying it more and more with your family, one big positive result you will find is that you can't bring any electrical devices in with you. No mobile phones, no Xbox, no tv (unless you have mounted a tv on the wall of your indoor hot tub), which results in quality time.
Hydrate and Sunblock
Before you jump in ensure you are armed with water to keep hydrated and sunblock! There's nothing worse then jumping in and finding you need to jump right back out again, dragging half the water through the house with you.
If you are using your hot tub more frequently remember to check your water chemicals and most of all have fun, relax and have an enjoyable summer.
